We breath in oxygen, we breath out carbon dioxide. We often imagine oxygen being “the good guy” and carbon dioxide the “bad guy” but Carbon dioxide is a natural constituent of our very being. Plants absorb carbon dioxide, and in turn give us oxygen that we need. All cells in the body, regardless of their job, (skin cells, brain cells, liver cells) release carbon dioxide as their waste. When, for example, the blood cells in our body are exposed to carbon dioxide, they start releasing oxygen molecules and pick up the carbon dioxide so that we can exhale it from our lungs. In a sense, by injecting small amounts of carbon dioxide gas during a carboxytherapy treatment just below the surface of the skin, the brain senses that somewhere in the body there is a deficit in oxygen, and responds by immediately sending a rush of blood to that area, rich not only in oxygen but all the nutrients that come along with blood.
